Cantory of The Catholic Church Our Lady-

Is a liturgical chamber choir connected to The Catholic Church Our Lady, and performs at the Mass on the 2nd Sunday every month, with about half the choir, and on special occasions with the entire choir which includes 24 active members. In addition, the choir gives two appointed concerts as EVENING SONG in the church in June and December, which always gather many people. In addition to this the choir also gives concerts in many other churches, for example in the beautiful, big Cathedrals with their distinction and Catholic past.

Århus, Viborg, Haderslev, Roskilde and Odense Cathedral have already been visited by the choir. And a concert like EVENING SONG is already scheduled in Ribe Cathedral.

The choir has released five productions:

MC - Evening Song Music (I)
MC - Evening Song II
CD - Evening Song III
CD - Evening Song IV
CD - Evening Song live from Roskilde Cathedral,
And nr. 6: CD – Evening Song V is in preparation.
A beautiful round choir tone made by headtone resembling the English song tradition is the basis and goal, and as vibrato does not exist, a uniform tone has been created irrespective of age.

The repertory is Gregorian music, the Psalms of David in line with the English tradition, hymns with high Descant voices, Responsorier(*) and versicler(*) and motets, a few smaller works, which all in all take advantage of the fine choir acoustics of the church because of the height of the church.

The choir in unpaid and consists of about ¼ Catholics and ¾ members of the National Church and it has an oecumenical character and a good atmosphere.

Olaf K. Jepsen.
(Leader of the choir, cantor and organist)
